If your talking about the inlet where the hose connects then yes its going to suck up water when you turn on the hose. If your talk about the siphon end. then you have to connect a hose that fits that and emerge then other end of the hose into bucket with your solution.

connect to tap or you’ll blow the pump motor in it and have to a new one.
