It sounds like you arn’t using a lance with the same brand name as the pressure washer.
If they are the same brand name i would get in touch with the store you bought it form it may be that you the connector wasn’t place in the box.
If you bought the lance separately you might have to bring it back and get one with a female conector on it.
alternatively you could ring or google the manufacturer of the lance and see if they are any help.

The pressure washer probably has a BSP thread. It’s quite common.
Your best bet is to go to a specialist plumber supplies shop with the lance and question them for the adaptor.
